CS 373 Spring 2021 Week 13: Joshua Skadberg

  • What did you do this past week?
I didn’t have any deadlines this past week except for an essay. The biggest thing in this week was the essay that took a while to finish. I had still gotten some work done in other classes. I did some work on what I believe is the final project in my SDS class. I am looking for a partner for my CS371p class. Other than that, it was a week more relaxing than the one before because there was only one deadline. I was able to get things done around the house, such as mowing the lawn and trimming bushes. I also got a haircut as well.
  • What’s in your way?
Nothing is in my way currently, but I know that since this is the home stretch, there will be things in my way to come. All of my classes with have final projects due, so I am not looking forward to that.
  • What will you do next week?
I will continue my CS 373 project, I will start and try to make significant progress in my CS371p class. I will try to get a major part of my final essay done, and perhaps do another reading response. I will also try to finish my project for my SDS class.
  • If you read it, what did you think of the What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?
It was a good eye opener for me. I had not been aware of these issues until last year, when a TA in my class told everyone about it. I didn’t know that there were people experiencing this type of harassment often. I am glad that I know that I am helping by just being aware of these problems.
  • What was your experience of joins and refactoring? (this question will vary, week to week)
I have never used joins before, but I have refactored in the past. Hopefully I will become good at it, and even more hopefully I will get to a point where I don’t even need to refactor.
  • What made you happy this week?
As I said earlier, I got a new haircut. I feel very fresh.
  • What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
I found that Barcel came out with a new chip, called Takis Waves. They’re essentially wavy potato chips with Taki dust. Theyre good, but I don’t know if they’re better than Takis, because in my bag, the dust was very light.
